Yesterday after our long walk in the rain, Constant the Wonder Dog and I played "beauty shop" together.
My hair has started to come back in--it's at the peach fuzz stage right now--and I decided I wanted to color it, because the color was kind of a no-color. So I bought a box of hair dye at the drug store.
I debated going with a really extreme color, but I knew the boys wouldn't find that difficult (a mom with purple hair? Pleeeze), so I picked a dark blonde.
I read all the instructions, mixed up the goop, and then applied it to my hair. Not much hair there, so I used less than half the bottle. Then, wait 30 minutes.
While I was waiting, I grabbed Connie and got him in the shower, where I scrubbed him from nose to tail with doggie shampoo and rinsed, rinsed, rinsed him.
The hardest part about bathing a dog in the bathroom is keeping him from shaking water everywhere when he comes out of the shower. But I wrapped Connie in a big towel and hauled him quickly into the little room we call the "sauna room." It's a tiled room between my bathroom and the sauna. It also has a door to the outside, so this is where we keep wet dogs till they are dry enough to come inside.
Then I showered the hair dye out of my hair and went in the sauna for about 20 minutes. When I was done, I opened the sauna door to let the heat into the little room where Connie was, so he dried out quickly.
That was it--our Mom and Dog spa day. No pedicures.
And no photos. I didn't have enough hands to take a photo. But I'll get Monica to shoot a photo of my new hair when she has a chance.
I didn't enjoy being bald this time, my fourth, mostly because of the "cancer reaction" I get from total strangers. I prefer to fly under the radar when I'm in public.
