Well, I guess I was doing too much, because I crashed today. Plus, I've caught a cold, complete with snotty nose and sore throat.
So I won't be meeting my exercise targets for the week, let alone my nutrition targets. Connie isn't suffering from my lack of energy, because Younger Son has walked him for me twice this week, and I was able to walk him once.
I spent most of the day on the couch, reading and knitting the scarf I'm planning to give Younger Son for Christmas. I didn't have Internet access, because Older Son reset our Internet and I couldn't get online.
Of course, when OS got home after work, he had my computer online within a minute and a half! Don't you hate it when your kids make you feel stupid? I do.
I'm reading a fascinating novel about Mormons and polygamy called "The 19th Wife." I recommend it highly. Earlier in the week I finished rereading Pearl Buck's "The Good Earth," which I first read when I was about 11. It was Buck's novels that got me interested in Asia.
I seem to have a theme going, because one of the plot threads in "The Good Earth" is polygamy, Chinese-style.
In any case, I'm quite comfy here in front of the fire, with Connie snoozing on the rug, and my only concern is whether or not I can talk Older Son into making me dinner. If not, I think I have a can of vegetarian baked beans in the cupboard.
I'm hoping I bounce back tomorrow, because I was planning to make some strawberry jam to give as Christmas gifts, and if I don't make jam tomorrow I may not have the chance. The final few days leading to Christmas are pretty full.
Also planning to walk Connie tomorrow, and take care of some nasty paperwork from Citibank, my mortgage holder. Let's just call Citibank the Grinch for now, and I'll tell that story tomorrow when I have more energy.
@ Jeanne Sather 2009.
I read the "19th Wife" a month or two ago. As you note it's fascinating.
Didn't it have the phrase "Utah Burka" in it? I thought that was funny. When they had the raid in Texas a year or so ago and all the pictures of the wives on their way to court the fashion columnist at our newspaper made reference to looking like a "Daughter of Zion."
If a glance in the mirror makes me think I'm sinking a little too deep into shapeless I'll remind myself that the DofZ look isn't one I want to emulate.
