I saw this headline the other day, but decided I wasn't up for reading the story. I finally did read it today, and I have to say this is scary: Researchers have found that morphine--often used for cancer patient's pain after surgery and at other times--may help the cancer to spread.
Now, I don't know if I received morphine after my mastectomy, I need to go back and check my chart to see if I did, but my cancer did not spread through my lymph system, it spread through the blood.
So, maybe.
And of course this is new information, information my surgeon didn't have 11 years ago.
