Penelope, a much-loved member of our circle of cancer bloggers, has died.
I heard the news from Teri, who received an e-mail from Penelope's husband. Penelope had melanoma, which had spread to her lungs and brain.
Penelope lived an idyllic-sounding life on a farm in Oregon with her family and some livestock, including goats. She and I never met, except through e-mail and our blogs, but we communicated about the topics closest to us--our children, other members of our families, how to live the best life possible with this sword hanging over our heads. ...
I know that Penelope worried about her daughter, who is 8, I believe, and she was very upset when Debutaunt died, leaving 9-year-old Zoe without a mother. We e-mailed back and forth about that.
Here are just a few of the posts on my blog where Penelope made an appearance:
Penelope's most recent post to her blog was written in late June, but you can go there to leave a message for her husband, John, and her daughter. Go to: Natureschain's Blog
John just put up a post: Penelope Has Died
Reading this post reminded me that I still haven't done one thing I said I would--made sure that someone, my sons or my closest friends, has access to my blog so that they can post when I can't, or at the end of my life. Readers need to know.
@ Jeanne Sather 2009.
