Three days after getting my first treatment with gemcitabine, my new poison, and I feel like crap.
My head hurts and I feel lethargic. My face is also puffy around the eyes. The infamous "flu-like symptoms" of so many chemo drugs. But the real question is, is this the gemcitabine causing it, or do I have the flu?
Difficult to tell at this point, so I'm just going to go to bed with lots of juice and ride it out.
Unfortunately, I'm trying to write a grant proposal, and I really need to be at the top of my game. The proposal is due tomorrow, so stay tuned. It will be a test of character to get it done, but I really need this grant or something similar--otherwise, I'm going to have to sell my house.
Argh.
More
To read more, I've created a separate category on my blog for posts about gemcitabine: Gemcitabine
I also have one for Tykerb: Tykerb
If you're interested in reading about Herceptin or other drugs that I've been on, you'll have to search my blog. (The search box is at the bottom of the right column.) I didn't separate those posts out in the same way.

I'm feeling better today, thank goodness, but I still rescheduled my MUGA scan to next week.
I suspect what is bothering me has nothing to do with the new chemo and everything to do with the crud that is going around. Even though I don't come into close contact with a lot of people ...

There is an awful crud going around. Symptoms include complete brainlessness, narcolepsy, loss of appetite, sinus congestion and lethargy. It took me a week to get over it. That said, I hope that's all you have, as it is curable!
