Ever since I started growing my hair out during the past year, it's been CURLY.
Now, conventional chemo drugs can cause curly hair once your hair has fallen out. It often grows back curly. I've had this happen a couple of times, after Adriamycin and also after Taxol. But Tykerb is a targeted therapy, and doesn't cause hair loss.
So why is my hair curly?
I'm not complaining, mind you. I like the curls. I have a cute little curl at my hairline at the left temple, and the curl gives me thicker-looking hair.
I'm just curious. Has anyone else out there who is taking Tykerb gotten curly hair as a bonus? Let me know: jeanne.sather@gmail.com
Update on my treatment
For those of you who have been following the ups and downs of my treatment, I took a one-week break from Tykerb, at my doctors' suggestion (for once, they were in agreement), and I stopped throwing up. So that means the Tykerb was probably to blame.
I'm now back on Tykerb, but a smaller dose, only two pills a day for now. I've also managed to get to the full dose on the oral cytoxan, which is a drug we added after my most recent scans show disease progression. Also added Herceptin back to the mix, as it is supposed to work well in combination with Tykerb.
Don't even want to guess what my treatment costs these days. Actually, I will add that up once I get past Christmas. Someone is sure to ask me.
Also, my hair is sure to thin once I've been on the cytoxan for awhile. When that happens, I'll go to see Chez and get a short cut again.
