I don't think I know a single cancer patient who doesn't have food issues, large or small.
Traditional chemo, of course, causes the greatest problems, but even the targeted therapy I'm on, Tykerb, has to be taken on an empty stomach, which calls for some juggling of meal times, and it causes nausea and vomiting.
When I read back through my blog, it seems like I am obsessed with food, and maybe I am. I'm certainly obsessed with gardening, and growing small amounts of delicious, organic, just-for-me good foods.
Here are some of my favorite posts:
The photo: I picked these vegetables the other day, along with three different kinds of lettuce, and made Car Guy a fresh-from-the-garden salad. In the bowl are yellow and white carrots, an orange bell pepper, and tomatoes. (Yes, I like to grow vegetables that are unusual colors. I also have purple "green" beans.)

oh, jeanne. i hope this doesn't come across like advice, but you are not obsessed with food. in my perception, anyway, judging from your blog. i have a friend that i call in the very middle of a meal sometimes, or standing at a store or farmers market looking at beautiful food. she does the same to me. we text each other when we're cooking. she's coming to HI with me in december and we are already looking online to plan our restaurant meals. food is nourishing. it's beautiful. produce, especially, is unique in that it's living. i think your affinity for food may have something to do with that; the vitality, and the reward in growing it yourself. that's just my two cents. shutting my trap now.
