Make a Phone Call, Please

A reader who lives in Maryland sent me an e-mail asking for some help.

Her sister has stage IV breast cancer, and the reader, Ann, asked me to ask my readers to make phone calls in support of a Maryland state program that helps low-income breast and cervical cancer patients in that state.

"Our [program] may be facing budget cuts," Ann writes.

"So I am asking people who care to call Maryland Governor O'Malley's office at 410-974-3901 and say, 'I am calling to ask Governor O'Malley not to reduce FY 2009 state funding for the breast and cervical cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment programs' (or a similar message). It is a simple call to make & they did not request any contact information of me when I called them."

Here is further information from the American Cancer Society:

Please take three minutes and make a call. I plan to.
