Therapy Jam
There are probably a million (well, maybe a thousand) good ways to cope with bad news. Or to cope with the threat of bad news: waiting, yet again, for test results, as I am right now.
For me, on Friday, making jam was the way that I coped.
Don't know what I'm talking about? Read No Break for Me.
These are the berries, fresh from the garden, that went into the jam.
And this, is this morning's brunch, jam and biscuits, and lots of coffee, eaten with my friend Monica after we walked Connie in the park.

Beautiful!
I recently persuaded my true love to buy one of those ice cream balls from L. L. Bean, the kind where you put ice and rock salt in one end and cream and sugar and other yummy things in the other, and then you roll the ball around for 20 minutes (or a half-hour if you get the quart size), preferably with other people, and you end up with homemade ice cream. One suggestion in the recipe book is to just throw jam in along with the rest of the basic recipe, and then you're supposed to get ice cream laced with that jam, not so much like a ribbon, as I understand it, but more like a blend.
You know where I'm going with this, right? :)

Oh, yeah. Party time. I've been looking at the ice cream ball in the catalogues and wondering about getting one, because it looked like such fun--but does it really work well?
If so, I've got to get one.

I haven't used ours yet, but a food blogger I admire, a professional pastry chef, has two. Details:

That jam looks so tasty. I'll trade you for some homemade pomegranate jelly.

Lisa--I'd be happy to trade. I probably won't get my next batch made till next week, although I am drowning in strawberries right now. I'll e-mail you and trade mailing addresses when I've got your jam for you.

Yeah, I love homemade jam. Plus, pomegranates are full of antioxidants. Cheers to gardening.
