502 Page Views!
I have some fairly modest short-term goals for my blog. One is to reach 3,000 page views a week so that I can put ads on my blog through BlogAds. (BlogAds sets that minimum number of page views before they'll talk to you about ads.)
I've been trying to hit that goal for months now, and with my recent jump in page views, I think I will make it this week. Right now it is 8:40 p.m., and I have 502 page views for the day.
My other short-term goal is to get in the top 100,000 blogs in the Technorati directory. Last week I was all the way up to 100,500 or so, but then I fell back to about 108,000. Not quite sure why. I have some 155 links to my blog from other blogs, according to Technorati. (So add those links, folks.)
My long-term goals for my blog are pretty ambitious:
* To be the most widely read cancer blog in the U.S.
* To influence public policy on issues such as health insurance and access to care.
* To change people’s thinking about health and illness.
I was an ambitious person before I got cancer, so why should that change? And I love blogging--it's the best tool I know for coping with cancer.

great news, Jeanne! you could always go the tacky route and blog about Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan... that's sure to get you more views, with all the interest this country has for celebrity downfall. jeesh. seriously, though... you've got a good thing going here. pat yourself on the back!

Yeah, I think I'll stay away from Paris and LIndsay--unless they get cancer, of course! Then I will feel compelled to tell them what to do. (Ha.)

My stats for the week came in, and I had 2,648 page views. So just 352 more, and I'll hit my target of 3,000 pages views a week and can start talking to BlogAds about putting ads on my site.
It would be nice to make a little money. A couple of people have e-mailed me about advertising on my blog, but so far nothing has worked out. Partly because I have high standards for what is on my blog.
(One potential advertiser wanted to put an ad for a baldness treatment on my pages about going bald from chemo. How weird was that? I said no.)
