Who Reads My Blog at 6 AM?
OK, I know it’s the World Wide Web, and 6 a.m. in Seattle is only 10 or 11 p.m. in Tokyo, depending on whether we are on daylight saving time or not, and 3 p.m. in Paris. But still, most of the people who read my blog are in the United States, and a surprising number of them are reading in the early morning hours.
When I check my stats, I can see what page or pages people are reading, and also where they came from—a Google search, or a link from another blog or Web site.
This morning, at 4:55, someone was reading my post on Chemotherapy Errors. At 5:31, someone jumped from the Young Survival Coalition bulletin boards to a post on Mammograms, MRIs, and Staying Vigilant. And at 6:55 a.m., someone from Australia was reading my post on Sex and the One-Breasted Woman.
Of course, it’s only about midnight in Australia, a good time to read about sex.
Hey, are you reading this blog in the middle of the night, or early in the morning? Send me an e-mail at jeanne.sather AT gmail.com and tell me why. What’s keeping you awake? And did you find what you were looking for?
Hope so.

Just letting you know who is looking at you at 1 in the morning. I am getting ready for a planning board meeting for our October conference (http://www.mcmla.org/2007), and really enjoyed your Peep Surgery as a study break!

Teri--wish I could claim the Peeps Surgery, but I just linked to it.
Peeps are big in my family, though. My younger son loves them, as does one of my closest friends. Last year one of the newspapers did an art contest where the entries were made entirely from Peeps. I need to find that and link to it as well. it was so funny.
Is this the library conference? How cool.

This is pretty cool. Not only did Teri (above) admit to reading my blog in the middle of the night, but this post brought me an e-mail from an old friend and former coworker who is now living in Kansas.
She's taking care of her elderly mom, who recently went through treatment for colon cancer, and she said she reads my blog late at night, the only time she has to herself.
So great to get back in touch.

Hi Jeanne. This is Sandy in Alaska. I'm reading your blog at 4:00 AM (I actually started at 1:30 AM I think it was). Any way, I'm a night owl. That's why you see me here at weird times.
