Write About It: A Workshop for People Living With Metastatic Cancer

In addition to writing for a living, I also teach writing. I teach nonfiction writing in Seattle at the University of Washington Extension and also in small workshops of four to six people. These classes and workshops are open to anyone who wants to learn to write for publication.

I also have put together a special two-day writing workshop for people who have metastatic cancer, and will be teaching it for the first time this spring in Seattle. If you live in the Seattle area and would like to know more, e-mail me at jeanne.sather@gmail.com.

If you live in another part of the country and would like me to bring the writing workshop to you, send me an e-mail with suggestions of organizations in your city that might host such a workshop, and I will see if I can make it happen.

The cancer-writing workshop is free to participants.

The workshop includes sessions on telling the stories that are most important to you; writing about the lessons that you have learned while living with cancer; writing your own obituary; and more.

We will also talk about writing tools, types of writing, suggestions for publishing or distributing your work, and resources to help you keep writing after the workshop is over.
